ZEISS Optics

Drawing from the ZEISS Sonnar optical design, this lens features seven elements arranged in five groups, enabling a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture while minimizing flare and enhancing contrast. Its construction includes three double-sided aspherical elements that effectively control astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations. Each lens surface is treated with ZEISS T* anti-reflective coatings to reduce reflections, delivering superior image clarity, contrast, and color accuracy. Additionally, the rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, ideal for selective focus photography.

Autofocus and Handling

The lens incorporates a linear autofocus motor and internal focus mechanism to deliver fast, precise, and silent focusing, especially beneficial during video recording. Its dust- and moisture-resistant construction enhances reliability in challenging environments, while rubberized control rings improve handling in cold conditions. The modest f/2.8 maximum aperture contributes to a compact and lightweight form factor, measuring approximately 38mm in length and weighing only 119g—ideal for travel.
