Improved Design

Building on enhanced optical performance, Sigma’s updated 35mm f/1.2 lens is about 30% lighter and 20% more compact than the previous model. It includes a customizable AFL button, a focus mode selector, and an aperture ring lock. The aperture ring can switch between clicked and de-clicked modes for seamless video recording. A water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element enables shooting in challenging outdoor conditions, while the dust- and splash-resistant design safeguards the lens’s internal components.

Precision Optical Design

Sigma employs four double-sided aspherical elements alongside a Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element to deliver sharpness across the entire aperture range starting from f/1.2, while also minimizing the lens's size. Comprising 17 elements arranged in 13 groups, the lens features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm that produces smooth, expressive bokeh. Optical aberrations such as color fringing and double lines are effectively controlled, even when shooting wide open. Additionally, advanced backlight resistance has been engineered to reduce lens flare and ghosting.

Upgraded Focusing System

No longer limited to still photography, the lens elements have been refined to minimize focus breathing, enhancing its suitability for professional video applications. It features Sigma's dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focusing system, providing fast and silent autofocus while maintaining a compact and portable design.
