Design and Performance

The lens comprises 17 elements arranged in 11 groups, including four aspherical and four Special Low Dispersion elements designed to reduce flare, ghosting, and various aberrations. This construction delivers optical performance on par with or surpassing other Sigma Art lenses, such as the 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art. Its 11-blade rounded diaphragm enhances sharpness and produces a smooth, pleasing bokeh when shooting wide open. With a constant f/1.8 aperture and a 28cm minimum focusing distance throughout the zoom range, it achieves a maximum magnification of 1:4.8 at 40mm, offering increased depth of field and flexibility in close-up compositions.
