Electronic Shutter-Only Design

Capture fast-moving subjects with the Nikon Z9's electronic shutter that can record up to 1/32,000 sec without distortion. The camera also supports flash sync and high speed sync, and can operate silently without worry of mechanical shutter wear.

493-Point Phase-Detection AF

The Z9 uses a 493-point phase-detection AF system and high-speed communication to achieve fast and accurate focusing performance. Its Starlight mode allows for focusing in low-light conditions down to -8.5 EV, making it ideal for astrophotography and nighttime shooting.

Subject Detection with Deep Learning Technology

The Z9 Mirrorless Camera features advanced technology for automatic subject detection, including nine subject types and improved Eye-Detection AF accuracy. It also includes Dynamic-Area AF modes, 3D Tracking, and 20 types of custom Wide-Area AF patterns for precise focus and subject detection.

Up to 8K Recording Supported

The Z9 Mirrorless Camera Body offers high-end photo and video capabilities, including 8K and 4K recording options at various frame rates, with full pixel readout. It also allows for 33MP or 11MP stills from 8K and 4K videos.

Internal N-RAW and ProRes RAW Video

Firmware 2.0 allows 12-bit raw recording at 8.3K 60p in N-RAW format on the Z9 Mirrorless Camera. Also supports ProRes RAW. N-RAW has small file sizes and can create MP4 proxies. Available in various resolutions and frame rates. ProRes RAW available at 4.1K and 60p.

ProRes and H.265 10-Bit Internal Recording

Internal recording with 10-bit color and 4:2:2 sampling is possible in the ProRes 422 HQ and H.265 codecs, and H.264 and 4:2:0 color can be used depending on workflow needs. For more latitude when color grading in post, there is also a 10-bit N-Log setting as well as a Flat color profile. Additionally, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) can be used for creating HDR-ready content straight from the camera.

Real-Live Viewfinder

Real-Live Viewfinder is a an advanced EVF utilizing a 3.69m-dot OLED panel with adjustable luminance up to 3000 cd/m2 for clear visibility in bright conditions. This EVF also works in conjunction with dual-stream technology for blackout-free viewing when shooting continuously. Firmware 2.0 has further improved the finder's performance with a high fps function, which ups the EVF's refresh rate to 120 fps for even smoother, lifelike viewing.

Four-Axis Tilting LCD

A first for Nikon, the Z9 incorporates a 3.2" 2.1m-dot four-axis tilting touchscreen LCD that better supports working from high and low angles, regardless if shooting in the horizontal or vertical orientation. This screen's four-way tilting design allows for easier viewing from a variety of positions and the user interface orientation will also shift depending on how the camera is held.

The Z9 camera body has dual memory card slots, a vertical grip, and a durable chassis. It also has improved in-body vibration reduction and a sensor shield for dust prevention. Additionally, it includes a high-capacity battery and convenient features like backlit buttons and a voice memo function.
