Featuring an innovative partially-stacked sensor design, the Nikon Z6 III Mirrorless Camera introduces flagship-grade enhancements to a mid-range model. It delivers faster, more accurate autofocus, supports professional 6K internal RAW video recording, offers pre-capture capabilities at 120 fps, and boasts a vibrant, smooth electronic viewfinder. These advanced features position the Z6 III as a versatile and cost-effective option for emerging professionals seeking a high-performance mirrorless camera.
EXPEED 7 Image Processor
EXPEED 7 processing engine, top continuous shooting speeds of 20 fps, and electronic shutter with top speed of 1/16,000 sec work together for fast AF speeds, burst shooting, high buffer capacity, fluid video, and quick handling. Pre-Release Capture records frames up to a second before shutter release, and partially-stacked sensor design reduces rolling shutter distortion. AF calculations at 120 fps keep up with fast continuous shooting.
493-Point Phase-Detection AF
The Z6 III's EXPEED 7 processor allows for fast and accurate focus using Nikon's 493-point phase-detection AF system, thanks to the high-speed communication and sensor speed of the Z interface. This includes a Starlight mode for low-light scenarios and the highest native ISO of the Z-series at ISO 64000. Backlit AF and 3D Tracking AF are also featured, along with three Dynamic-Area AF modes for capturing different types of moving subjects.
Subject Detection with Deep Learning Technology
The Z6 III uses advanced algorithms and deep learning from the Z9 to detect and track different subject types, including humans, animals, airplanes, and bicycles. In Auto-Area AF mode, the camera automatically focuses on and tracks the subject for sharp images. Eye-Detection AF has also been improved for better eye recognition and can be used with custom Wide-Area AF for different subject sizes.
More Beautiful Portraits
Improve portrait photography with the Z6 III's advanced processing features and various shooting modes, including Portrait, Rich Tone Portrait, Flat Monochrome, and Deep Tone Monochrome. Enhanced skin softening and manual white balance controls make capturing beautiful portraits effortless when using compatible Nikon portrait lenses like the 50mm f/1.2 S, 85mm f/1.2 S, or 135mm f/1.8 S Plena.
Pixel Shift Technology
Capture 96MP images with pixel shift technology by slightly shifting the image sensor and merging multiple shots in NX Studio. Ideal for various photography applications and best used with a tripod.
Internal 6K60 and 4K 120 Recording
The Z6 III offers high-end video capabilities, including full pixel readout and a range of resolutions and frame rates up to 6K60p. It also allows for continuous shooting during video recording, with options for 4K and Full HD. Slow-motion playback is available with frame rates up to 120p for full-frame 4K and 240p for Full HD.
N-RAW and ProRes RAW Video
The camera supports internal 12-bit raw recording, with the option for ProRES RAW HQ. Raw recording provides greater tonal and color range, ideal for color grading and post-production. N-RAW, Nikon's own format, has small file sizes and can create MP4 proxies for easier previewing and transfers. N-RAW and ProRES RAW are available at resolutions of 6K and 60p/30p respectively.
ProRes and H.265 10-Bit Recording
Internal recording is also supported with 10-bit color and 4:2:2 sampling in the ProRes 422 HQ codec and 4:2:0 sampling in the H.265 codec at 5.4K 30p and 5.4K 60p, respectively.
Nikon's Brightest Viewfinder and 170° Vari-Angle LCD
The Z6 III has a bright electronic viewfinder, with 4000 nit brightness that is 33% brighter than the Z9 flagship. It also features a high resolution and frame rate, aiding autofocus and providing a lifelike viewing experience. The EVF has a high dynamic range and supports a DCI-P3 color gamut for accurate colors. It also has a 3.2" 2.1m-dot touchscreen LCD with 170° vari-angle mobility, allowing for easier viewing in various positions and orientations.

The camera includes a full HDMI port for video output, headphone and line-in jacks for audio, and a USB-C port for charging, file transfer, and tethering. Optional Ethernet connection is possible with an adapter. Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi allow wireless file transfer, remote control via mobile devices, and easy file management with the NX Mobile Air app.
