The Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens features an advanced dual stepping motor multi-focus system that delivers exceptionally fast, accurate, and silent autofocus, with continuous manual focus override to meet both photographic and videographic demands. Its compact design incorporates a high-definition OLED information panel, allowing quick access to aperture and focus status, alongside a customizable L.Fn button for easy adjustments to exposure and other settings. Additionally, the lens includes a programmable control ring that provides intuitive, precise control over various camera and exposure functions for a smooth shooting workflow.

This system uses stepping motors, which offer impressively smooth and quiet autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.
