Keep your images connected with updated connectivity features.

60MP Full-Frame Black & White BSI CMOS Sensor

Based on the M11's high-resolution back-illuminated sensor design, the M11 Monochrom has modified the 60MP full-frame CMOS sensor by removing the color filter array (CFA), which offers the ability to solely record monochromatic imagery using only luminance values for enhanced clarity, depth, and resolution. By omitting this CFA, the camera also achieves a higher sensitivity range (compared to color-enabled M11 cameras) of ISO 125-200000.

Triple Resolution Technology

The M11 Monochrom Camera has Triple Resolution Technology, offering 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP output with improved dynamic range and 14-bit color.

  • 60MP: 14 stops of dynamic range, highest resolution
  • 36MP: 15 stops of dynamic range, best balance of resolution and noise
  • 18MP: 15 stops of dynamic range, lowest noise levels

Maestro III Image Processor

The Maestro III processor enables quick processing, 4.5 fps continuous shooting, and a wider ISO range of 125-200000 for improved detail and flexibility in low-light conditions on the M11 Monochrom camera. The monochrome sensor design reduces noise levels and maintains fine detail even at ISO 200000.

M11 Series Imaging Improvements

The M11 Monochrom offers manual operation and a modern platform with improvements and functional updates. Shoot at faster shutter speeds with an electronic shutter up to 1/16,000 sec. A mechanical shutter supports speeds up to 1/4000 sec and flash sync at 1/180 sec. Digital zoom at 1.3x and 1.8x levels simulates using longer focal length lenses. Multi-field exposure metering, spot and center-weighted average options, and Long Exposure Noise Reduction also available.

Monochrom Updates to a Traditional Rangefinder Design

The M11 monochrom version features a classic design inspired by the original 1954 M3 camera. Its sleek and lightweight aluminum body has a scratch-resistant black finish, with subtle design elements that create a monochromatic aesthetic.

Optical Viewfinder and Rear LCD

The large and bright 0.73x-magnification optical viewfinder has automatic parallax compensation and bright-line frame lines to match the image sensor size at a 6.6' focusing distance. Use the viewfinder frame selector to change the image field with manual focus and choose from options like 35mm/135mm, 28mm/90mm, and 50mm/75mm pairs. View and adjust settings quickly with the updated 2.95" 2.3m-dot touchscreen LCD, which has improved visibility and scratch-resistant sapphire glass. The menu layout is now similar to the Q and SL systems for easier navigation and faster setting changes on the first page. Live view stabilization helps reduce camera shake and improve manual focusing with longer focal length lenses.

Updated Body Design and Handling

Despite the M11 platform's similarity to past M cameras, it features a variety of notable changes to its body design:

  • First M camera to not feature a removable baseplate; instead, the M11 series borrows a design from the Q and SL systems and uses the BP-SCL7 battery, which is inserted directly into the base of the camera body.
  • BP-SCL7 lithium-ion battery has a greater capacity than the previous generation's battery and is CIPA-rated for 700 shots per charge. However, if working with the optical viewfinder only, approximately 1700 shots per charge is possible.
  • Revised design also incorporates a single UHS-II SD memory card slot within the battery compartment.
  • Built-in 256GB memory means you can forgo using a memory card altogether, or use the internal memory in conjunction with an SD card to simulate having dual card slots for splitting file types or for overflow storage. Image files can also be transferred from the internal memory to the SD card for easy backup.
  • USB-C port on the base permits in-camera battery charging and file transferring.
Wired and Wireless Connectivity
  • The USB-C port can be used in conjunction with the included FOTOS Cable, which allows direct attachment to a mobile device via the Leica FOTOS app for easy file management and sharing.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can also be used for wireless connecting the camera to an iOS or Android device using the FOTOS app.
  • In-app geotagging is possible along with the ability to select favorites and apply ratings to images via your mobile device.
