The Leica BP-SCL4 is a premium, high-performance rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed natively for Leica's professional full-frame mirrorless and compact camera systems. Originally introduced alongside the Leica SL (Typ 601), this battery provides a dense power footprint, low self-discharge rates, and high energy reliability for intensive professional shoots.

Camera Compatibility

The BP-SCL4 is universally interchangeable across multiple camera bodies, but its lower capacity limits features on newer systems:

• Native / Full Functionality: Built specifically for the Leica SL (Typ 601), Leica SL2, Leica SL2-S, and the Leica Q2.
• Backward Compatibility (With Power Restrictions): Fits into the newer Leica Q3, Q3 43, and Leica SL3. However, because it lacks the capacity of the newer BP-SCL6, using the BP-SCL4 inside these cameras disables high-drain features such as 8K/C8K video recording and peak burst drive modes. It will also trigger a warning prompt on start-up.

Charging Options

The BP-SCL4 charges in approximately 4 hours from empty using the official Leica BC-SCL4 external cradle. When loaded into the Leica SL2, SL2-S, or Q2 camera bodies, it also supports direct in-camera charging via a standard USB-C cable attached to a computer or power bank
