The Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens offers a versatile and distinctive blend of an expansive field of view and a close-focusing capability. By combining these features, this lens allows for close-up shots while still capturing a wide perspective and greater depth of field than typical telephoto macro lenses.

Wide-Angle Macro Lens

This wide-angle prime lens is versatile and can be used for a wide range of subjects, such as landscapes, nature, and street photography. With its close-focusing ability, it is able to capture nearby subjects in between shots of larger spaces. The macro designation allows for a 1:2 half life-size maximum magnification and a minimum focusing distance of 14cm. Its bright f/1.8 design offers both depth of field control and is suitable for various lighting situations. The lens features an UD (ultra-low dispersion) element and an aspherical element to effectively correct chromatic and spherical aberrations, resulting in sharp and accurate images with true colors. Additionally, the lens is coated with Super Spectra coating to resist flare and ghosting, ensuring excellent contrast and color fidelity even in bright lighting conditions. Its rounded nine-blade diaphragm also contributes to a pleasing and smooth bokeh effect.

Autofocus, IS, and Design

The STM stepping motor provides efficient and precise autofocus capabilities, suited for both photography and videography. With up to 5 stops of optical image stabilization, or 6.5 stops when paired with coordinated IS, camera shake is greatly reduced, allowing for better handheld shooting in low-light situations and with slower shutter speeds. The Configurable Control Ring allows for easy adjustment of various exposure settings, such as aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
