Electronic Shutter

The stacked sensor design offers a silent electronic shutter function that can shoot up to 30 fps with minimal distortion, reaching a top speed of 1/64,000 sec. It also allows for flash sync at up to 1/180 sec and offers the option to choose audible shutter noises to accompany each click.

A manual shutter is also available, and offers a top continuous shooting speed of 12 fps, with a buffer of more than 1000 frames, along with a top flash sync speed of 1/250 sec.

6K Raw and DCI/UHD 4K Video Recording

The camera offers advanced video features such as high-res 6K recording, 4K 120p recording, HDR production, and clean output. The sensor also enhances 4K shooting with improved sharpness and lower noise. Additionally, it has options for compression and supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF II.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

An enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system with 1053 AF points covers the entire sensor area, providing faster, more precise focusing. It intelligently recognizes eyes, faces, heads, animals, and vehicles and maintains sharp focus throughout burst captures. Low-luminance limit improved to focus down to -7.5 EV for accurate focusing at night.

Eye Control AF

Canon's EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera Body features the re-introduced Eye Control AF, which is now more refined and works with Dual Pixel CMOS AF. It allows for easy focus point selection by just looking through the viewfinder, using advanced subject tracking and detection.

Sensor-Shift Image Stabilizer

The In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) corrects unwanted camera shake when shooting handheld, helping in low-light conditions and reducing shake when recording videos. This 5-axis system can be used in conjunction with lenses featuring optical image stabilization to compensate for up to 8 stops of camera shake depending on the specific lens.

5.76m-Dot EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD

It features a smart controller, multi-controller, and a similar rear layout to the 1D X Mark III and R5 cameras. The larger body also allows for a high-capacity battery and is built with weather-sealed specifications like the flagship EOS-1D X Mark III.

Dual Memory Card Slots

A CFexpress Type B slot and a UHS-II SD slot offer file-saving flexibility. The CFexpress Type B slot should be prioritized for 6K video recording and fast continuous shooting, and the SD slot is a convenient alternative for backups or less speed-critical shooting.

Connectivity

Effortlessly transfer media with various wired and wireless connections, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, as well as direct sharing from select 5G smartphones. The built-in GPS module also allows for in-camera location tagging.
