What's Included

The Canon EOS C50 features a new 7K full-frame CMOS sensor for high-quality video and photos. It can record 4K video at 120fps in 3:2 Open Gate mode and capture raw video at 7K and 60fps, along with 32MP still images. Switching between photo and video modes is simple for hybrid use. It includes Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II, simultaneous 2K crop recording, built-in Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud integration, and remote control via XC protocol. The removable top handle adds two 3-pin XLR inputs and easy-to-use controls.
7K Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
The Canon EOS C50 features a 7K back-illuminated full-frame CMOS sensor that reduces noise for better image quality in different lighting conditions. It offers over 15 stops of dynamic range and uses 7K resolution to deliver detailed 4K60 footage through oversampling, giving you more flexibility in editing.
3:2 Open Gate Sensor Mode
The Canon EOS C50 is the first in the Cinema EOS line to support Open Gate recording, using the full sensor area. By selecting Full Frame 3:2 mode, you capture the entire sensor, allowing you to crop or reframe your footage later. This feature is especially helpful when shooting with anamorphic lenses.
Internal Raw and High Frame Rate Recording
The Canon EOS C50 offers versatile recording options, including 7K60 Cinema RAW Light with three 12-bit modes: HQ, ST, and LT. It supports 10-bit 4:2:2 XF-AVC recording up to 120fps without cropping, plus fast and slow motion capture at 4K120 and 2K180. Additional codecs like XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S help organize files with clear naming and metadata.
Anamorphic De-Squeeze
The C50 features internal support for anamorphic de-squeeze. Preview your footage more accurately when shooting in different magnification ratios by toggling the de-squeeze options in the camera menu: 2x, 1.8x, 1.5x, 1.3x.
Dual-Base ISO
Base ISOs of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2 gamma recording mode maximize the full dynamic range of the C50's sensor. The camera also features Auto Selection to automatically toggle between one of the two base ISO levels and another level while maintaining the dynamic range.
Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II
The Canon EOS C50 uses Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II to keep subjects sharp at high frame rates like 4K120 and 2K150. Its sensor captures more light, expanding the autofocus area. Advanced subject detection with deep learning lets you prioritize face or eye focus for people and animals, now including birds.
Simultaneous Crop Recording
The Canon EOS C50 lets you choose from three formats—9:17, 9:16, or 1:1—to automatically crop your 4K video to 2K resolution in the chosen aspect ratio. This makes preparing videos for social media quicker and easier.
Dual Card Slots
The C50 includes two different card slots—one CFexpress Type-B and one SD card. Both slots support simultaneous recording even when shooting in raw codecs. All recording options are stored to your inserted CFexpress card, while sub-recording and proxy options record to your inserted SD card.
Native Vertical Shooting UI
The Canon EOS C50 makes vertical shooting easier with a special vertical shooting mode that flips the display. You can start and stop recording using touch controls in this mode. The camera’s menus, settings, and screen brightness also adjust for better vertical filming.
Detachable Handle Unit
The included, detachable handle unit provides additional connectivity for your C50 handheld configuration. Two full-sized 3-pin XLR inputs with 48V phantom power allow you to integrate shotgun microphones. A built-in start/stop recording button and a zoom rocker offer easy-to-reach controls when filming low-angle shots.
Comprehensive Connectivity
The Canon EOS C50 has many ports to fit your production setup, including HDMI, headphone, timecode, 3.5mm mic input, 2.5mm remote, and a multipurpose USB-C for smartphone or Ethernet use. It also includes an intelligent hot shoe for wireless audio connections.
XC Protocol
The Canon EOS C50 has built-in Wi-Fi that lets you control the camera remotely using Canon IP controllers or third-party panels. You can add more connection options with a USB-C to Ethernet adapter. Canon’s apps let you manage settings and control several cameras at once. The camera also supports SRT for direct streaming of audio and video over IP.
Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud Integration
The C50 has native compatibility with Frame.io's Camera-to-Cloud technology. Send proxy files immediately after internal recording for efficient post-production workflows. The proxy files don't require additional processing or conversion and can be viewed, shared, and edited remotely.
Mirrorless Photo Mode
The Canon EOS C50 easily switches between cinema and mirrorless modes using the familiar EOS R menu. Its full-frame sensor gives a shallow depth of field and smooth background blur, with ISO up to 64,000. You can take 32MP photos and shoot up to 40 frames per second, all with precise Dual-Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus, making it ideal for hybrid shooting.
