Quick and Easy Photoshop Colour Adjustment Tutorial

Quick and Easy Photoshop Colour Adjustment Tutorial

Handling individual colour saturation and luminosity (brightness) during post-processing can sometimes be quite tricky. Jimmy McIntyre from Through Strange Lenses has an excellent 3 min tutorial on how to edit images in Adobe Photoshop using a black and white adjustment layer.

The workflow for this tutorial is really simple and does not require much knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. You will need at least CS5 to be able to use adjustment layers.

  1. First step would be to create a new black and white adjust layer (layer > new adjustment layer > Black & White".
  2. Select the Black & White adjustment layer and set it's blending mode to "Luminosity".
  3. Click the newly created adjustment layer and adjust the individual colours to brighten or darken those colours in the image. to your taste.
