Fast Hybrid AF System

The Fast Hybrid AF system has 759 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas, covering 92% of the image area. It works in all recording modes for quick and precise focusing, with Real-time Tracking and touch tracking options. Real-time Eye AF ensures sharpness in portraits, and AF transition speed and subject shift sensitivity controls allow for fine-tuning.

5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Image Stabilization

The a7S III has an upgraded 5.5-stop 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system that corrects camera shake while shooting for both stills and video. With this, any lens can be used confidently without encountering blurriness. The system also compensates for pitch, yaw, horizontal and vertical shift, and roll, and it works with third-party lenses and adapters or lenses with built-in optical stabilization. For smoother footage, there is also a specific Active IS mode for video.

Tru-Finder EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD

The QXGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF provides bright, clear and detailed eye-level viewing with a 9.44m-dot resolution and 0.9x magnification. It features a dedicated 120 fps High Quality setting for smooth motion rendering and a long 25mm eye point, 41° field of view and fluorine coating for easy cleaning. The side-opening 3.0" 1.44m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD is ideal for vlogging and self-recording, with a redesigned menu structure for intuitive shooting control.

Versatile and Durable Design

The Sony Alpha a7S III features dual memory card slots compatible with both CFexpress Type A and SD cards, offering versatile file management options such as file separation or overflow recording. Both slots support UHS-II cards, enabling faster data transfer. Its magnesium alloy body delivers a robust yet lightweight frame, while the reinforced lens mount and improved grip enhance handling of heavier lenses. Comprehensive weather sealing around the battery cover, terminals, and chassis ensures reliable performance in challenging environments. Powered by the high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery, it delivers around 510 shots or 80 minutes of viewfinder recording, and up to 600 shots or 95 minutes when using the rear LCD.

Ports and Connectivity

The Sony Alpha a7S III is equipped with a full-size HDMI A port for secure connections to external recorders. It includes both a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and a micro-USB port, enhancing tethering speed and reliability. The USB-C enables in-use charging or powering from an external source. Audio control is expanded through 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, while the Multi Interface Shoe supports digital audio devices like the ECM-B1M Shotgun Microphone and XLR-K3M Adapter for superior sound quality. Built-in Wi-Fi offers remote camera operation and quick image sharing over 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, with USB-C also compatible with optional Ethernet adapters for high-speed wired connections, remote shooting, and FTP transfers.
