The Fujifilm X-T2 is the latest addition to the brand’s premium X-series range of cameras and it’s expected to arrive on South African shores in late September 2016. The very first model to bring 4K video capture to the lineup, this top-level mirrorless camera improves on the offerings of it’s predecessor, the X-T1, with a 24MP X-Trans sensor, an upgraded hybrid AF system featuring 325 AF points, an AF-point selection joystick, a faster maximum shutter speed of 1/8000sec and an overall improvement in response times. This weather-sealed camera’s versatility is further enhanced with the development of an LCD screen that now features an additional hinge for waist-level portrait-orientation shooting.
An optional Vertical Power Booster Grip will be released along with the camera. It holds two batteries and can increase the shutter burst from 8fps to 11fps, reduce shutter lag and blackout time and make it possible to shoot up to 30 minutes of 4K video capture in comparison to the standard 10 minutes.
The Fujifilm X-T2 does so much more than simply building on the strengths of the X-T1. The brand has succeeded in merging all the best qualities of existing X-series models while improving on previously observed weaknesses. The classic and familiar body design will be received equally well by first-time Fujifilm users and seasoned brand advocates, while the subtle improvements such as the double-hinged flip out LCD and AF-point selection joystick will silence the critics.
